MULHEIM – Two Indonesian mixed doubles suffered defeat in the last 16 of the German Open 2023. Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja had to go home early.
Praveen/Melati were rolled over by the Chinese duet, Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping 15-21 and 19-21 in 44 minutes.
Meanwhile, Dejan/Gloria were eliminated by Hong Kong representatives, Lee Chun Hei Reginald/Ng Tsz Yau with a narrow score of 19-21, 19-21.
This means that the journey of the two pairs in the Super 300 tournament is over. Thus, Indonesia is certain to be empty of titles.
Playing at Westenegie Sporthalle, Mulheim, Wednesday (8/3/2023) afternoon WIB, Pramel – as Praveen / Melati is called – performed well at the start of the match.
They were able to balance Feng/Huang’s game until there was a score chase that reached 6-6.
However, the non-training pair actually made several mistakes that the opponent could take advantage of. As a result, they trailed 9-11 in the first game interval.
After the break, Praveen/Melati seemed to be having a hard time getting out of the pressure from their opponent who was the world’s 16th ranked duet. They continued to trail behind 12-16.
Point after point was successfully obtained without difficulty by Feng/Huang. The Red-White duo finally lost in the first game with a score of 15-21.
