TASHKENT – Japan U-20 eliminated Saudi Arabia U-20 from the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup after winning in the final match of Group D. They qualified for the quarter-finals as group winners and were accompanied by China U-20.

The match took place at the Lokomotiv Stadium, Tashkent, Thursday (9/3/2023) evening. Appearing dominant, Japan U-20 won with a final score of 2-1.

Since the match started, Japan U-20 tried to show its dominance during attacks. However, Saudi Arabia U-20 can still provide resistance and get a golden opportunity.

Japan U-20 finally opened the scoring through a goal by Kuryu Matsuki (15′) who made good use of Taisei Abe’s pass. They won 1-0 over Saudi Arabia U-20.

The Rising Sun country team maintained the tempo of the game. Even so, the opponent did not give up to get out of the pressure and turn to attack.

Until the end of the first half, Saudi Arabia U-20 never managed to score a goal back. Japan U-20 remained 1-0 up until halftime.

Saudi Arabia U-20 made a change in the pattern of play at the start of the second half. They got several golden opportunities to equalize, but were still thwarted by Japan U-20.

However, in the last 20 minutes, Japan U-20 began to get out of pressure and carried out several dangerous attacks. Even so, Japan is still quite difficult to add goals.

Saudi Arabia U-20 finally scored an equalizer through Yazeed Jawshan in the 74th minute. After returning to a 1-1 draw, Japan U-20 was increasingly aggressive in carrying out attacks.
