Oleksandr Usyk stated that the undisputed heavyweight title fight against Tyson Fury had to be done. He claimed that the WBC world champion also agreed with his wishes.

“I need this fight and that’s it. I think he (Fury) needs it too. This fight is very important for both of us,” Usyk was quoted as saying by Sky Sports, Tuesday (7/3/2023).

Usyk is known as the holder of the WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight championship belts. Meanwhile, Fury is the WBC world champion.

“The four belts have not been held by one person. So we both need this fight,” said Usyk.

Usyk claims that this fight will be exciting, especially since the boxer from Ukraine said that Fury is a braver boxer than Anthony Joshua. But the undisputed cruiserweight champion and 2012 London gold medalist believes he can repeat his feat at heavyweight despite facing off against Fury.

“Yeah of course he has a different style. Fury is braver. I’m not afraid of Tyson Fury. It’s going to be like any other fight. Just a big guy who’s never lost before to a guy who has the WBC belt,” Usyk said.
