The most violent country against women in the world
After the withdrawal of US and NATO troops in August 2021, when the radical Islamist group took over the war-torn state, it initially promised to support minority and women’s rights. However, the Taliban quickly returned to the hard line, further suppressing women’s rights, limiting freedoms, and even banning education beyond grade 6. Women are severely restricted when it comes to traveling and working outside the home. They are forced to wear headscarves in public and are prohibited from working for local and international NGOs.
