JAKARTA – It is reported that the Indonesian National Team will face the Republic of Burundi and Kenya on the March 2023 FIFA Matchday. Even the Garuda Squad may face these two countries in a mini tournament.
The Indonesian national team still has no opponents for the March 2023 FIFA Matchday. Previously, PSSI confirmed that the Garuda Squad would not face Bolivia and Tajikistan.
The cancellation happened because Bolivia was rumored to face Saudi Arabia. While Tajikistan gets an invitation to a friendly match against Kuwait and the Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Indonesian National Team already has an opponent for the March 2023 FIFA Matchday by facing two African countries, Burundi and Kenya. The news first appeared via Twitter @257Foot which provided updates related to Burundi football.
“Burundi will face Kenya and Indonesia in a friendly match. The two matches will be played in Indonesia at the end of this month,” wrote @257Foot, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
Meanwhile, FIFA Matchday will take place from 20-28 March 2023. Facing a team from Africa is an advantage for the Indonesian national team, because Burundi and Kenya have better FIFA rankings.
Burundi is currently ranked 141st in the FIFA rankings, while Kenya is in 101st position. While the Indonesian National Team is in the order of 151 FIFA rankings.
