Shin Tae-yong’s surprising plan after the U-20 Indonesian National Team was eliminated from the U-20 Asian Cup

FERGANA – The coach of the U-20 Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong, already has plans for his team after falling at the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. The coach from South Korea said there would be an overhaul in his squad.

As is known, the U-20 Indonesian national team was eliminated from the event after only being able to win a draw against U-20 Uzbekistan with a score of 0-0. The last match of Group A took place at the Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana, Tuesday (7/3/2023) evening WIB.

Muhammad Ferarri et al were forced to bury their hopes of qualifying because the U-20 Indonesian National Team finished third on the standings with a collection of four points. In fact, the Garuda Muda Squad has the same points as Iraq U-20 who qualified as runners up.

It’s just that, the U-20 Indonesian National Team lost on goal difference from the U-20 Iraqi National Team. If only Shin Tae-yong’s troops could beat U-20 Uzbekistan, then surely they would qualify. Considering that in the other match, Iraq U-20 drew 1-1 against Syria U-20.

However, Shin Tae-yong doesn’t seem to want to be too late. The 52-year-old formation manager revealed the closest plans for the current U-20 Indonesian National Team.

“Our plan going forward, we will rest first,” said Shin Tae-yong in a press conference, Wednesday (8/3/2023).

Then later, Shin Tae-yong will make a reshuffle within the Garuda Muda Squad. The former coach of the South Korean national team will cross out names whose performance is still not satisfactory.

“We are planning to make a few changes to our squad. There will be player changes in the squad that I did,” said Shin Tae-yong.

No doubt if it was done by him. Bearing in mind, the U-20 Indonesian National Team will face another major event, namely the 2023 U-20 World Cup. This prestigious competition will take place in Indonesia and will begin in May.
