Scientific Reasons Why It’s Better Not to Leftover Food, Apparently because…
Newsdelivers.com –
It’s not uncommon for us to order or process food in excessive quantities, right, Mother? If you don’t finish eating it, the food is left over and ends up in the dumps.
This turned out to be the attention of environmentalists. Why? This is because wasted food can trigger global warming significantly.
It is known, the earth warmed by about 1.1 degrees Celsius since pre-industrial times. It’s not a huge number and the effect isn’t immediate, but it’s a major trigger for more extreme weather and natural disasters.

Even with the current status quo, greenhouse gas emissions from the food system could make the planet ‘cry’ from the heat enough to exceed the Paris climate agreement.
Catherine Ivanovich, PhD candidate from Columbia University, also researched the impact of food on climate change in. The study entitled Future warming from global food consumption is clearly presented in the journal Nature Climate Change.
“Food consumption is a major source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and evaluating its future warming impact is crucial to guiding climate mitigation,” he wrote.
In his study, he studied the gas content of 94 foods from 115 studies and estimated 206 gas distribution per type or food group.
According to the study, if the world continues to produce and consume food as it is now, then the food sector alone could cause the planet to warm up by 0.9 degrees Celsius.
“We found that global food consumption alone could add nearly 1 degree celsius to warming by 2100. 75 percent of that warming comes from foods high in methane (meat, dairy products and rice).”
Experts say methane is a greenhouse gas that is 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide in the first few decades after it is released.
