LONDON – Raheem Sterling managed to lead Chelsea to get rid of Borussia Dortmund from the 2022/2023 Champions League. With the contribution of one goal, the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker is close to Wayne Rooney’s record.

Chelsea managed to win 2-0 over Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the last 16 of the 2022/2023 Champions League. The match took place at Stamford Bridge Stadium, London, England on Wednesday (8/3/2023) in the morning WIB.

Raheem Sterling immediately opened Chelsea’s lead in the 43rd minute. The Blues -Chelsea’s nickname- also closed the victory through Kai Havertz’s penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

Despite losing 0-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg, Chelsea managed to turn things around by winning 2-1 on aggregate. These results made the Blues advance to the quarter-finals of the 2022/2023 Champions League.

Raheem Sterling is the second player from England to score in the Champions League. He only lost to the legend of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney scored 30 goals.

With the retirement of Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling is wide open to become the English player who has scored the most goals in the Champions League. He only needed four goals to win the record.
