PHU-THO – The U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team had to suffer a heavy defeat to Vietnam U-20 in the first match of Group F for the 2024 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification. and conceded a goal in the early minutes.
The match took place at the Viet Tri Stadium, Tuesday (7/3/2023). The U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team must recognize the strength of Vietnam U-20 with a score of 0-3.
Playing at home Vietnam U-20 immediately got the advantage in the second minute through Hoang Van. Meanwhile, in the eighth minute, Ngoc Anh added to Vietnam’s U-20 advantage.
Vietnam U-20 added another advantage through Vua Hoa’s penalty kick in the 36th minute. Until the match was over, the U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team failed to score a goal and made the home team get full points.
After the match, Rudi Eka admitted that the U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team had performed beyond expectations. He considered that Garuda Pertiwi appeared panicked, so they conceded a quick goal.
“The team’s play at the start of the match was not as expected. The players panicked and played unsteadily until we conceded early in the match,” said Rudi Eka as quoted from the PSSI website, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
Meanwhile, Rudi Eka explained that the U-20 Vietnam was different from the last time the U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team faced them at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. The defeat to Vietnam U-20 is an evaluation for Garuda Pratiwi so they can perform better in the next match.
“On the other hand, Vietnam’s game is very good and the intensity is so fast. The strategy for the opposing team is very good, different from the first time we faced in Palembang and this is of course an evaluation material for the team in the next match,” he said.
In line with Rudi Eka, Helsya Maesaroh admitted that the U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team played less calmly and lost focus after conceding a quick goal. He wants his team to be able to overcome communication problems for the next two matches.
“Today we played less calmly, especially when we lost our focus when we conceded a goal early in the game. Communication must be improved again because there are still two matches to face,” he said.
After losing to Vietnam U-20, the U-20 Indonesian Women’s National Team will face India and Singapore. The team made by Rudi Eka must be able to perform optimally to secure a position in the final standings of Group F for the 2024 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.
