SAMARINDA – Borneo FC succeeded in breaking into the top four after defeating Persija Jakarta with a score of 3-1 in the 2022-2023 League 1 continuation match at Segiri Stadium, Wednesday (8/3/2023). This victory is very special considering that Pesut Etam has just celebrated his birthday on March 7 2023.
Acting as the host, Borneo, which was aiming for this special win, appeared pressing from the early minutes. The game had only been running for nine minutes, Muhammad Sihran managed to open Pesut Etam’s goal tap with a header.
In the 21st minute, Borneo FC almost doubled their advantage after Jonathan Bustos’ free kick still bounced over the Persija goalbar. Until the first interval after the 1-0 lead for Pesut Etam did not change.
In the second half, the match was exciting. Noted, there were three goals created in the second 45 minutes.
Two goals for Borneo were scored by Terens Puhiri (80′) and Matheus Pato (87′). Meanwhile, another goal for Persija was scored by Osvaldo Haay (78′).
Until the long whistle sounded the score 3-1 for Borneo FC did not change. These three additional points made Pesut Etam rise to fourth place, shifting Bali United with 47 points. While the Kemayoran Tigers stagnated in third place with 51 points.
