LONDON – Anthony Joshua continues to prepare for his duel against Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena, London, on April 1, 2023. But there is something interesting when you see his training camp.
Not long ago, Anthony Joshua shared two photos on his personal Instagram social media account (@anthonyjoshuabxing) when he tried to cut down a tree using an axe. It’s quite unique if you look at the pattern of training that the British heavyweight boxer did.
“Back to the start,” wrote Anthony on his personal Instagram account.
Anthony Joshua’s workout is reminiscent of training in the movie Rocky IV, when Ricky Balboa prepares for his fight against Ivan Drago. This new training method seems to be affected by the presence of a new coach, namely Derrick James.
To train with James, Joshua decided to move to the United States, but he insisted it was not a sightseeing trip. “It’s not because I don’t see anything. I’m not there for anything else, I’m a serious person so I’m not there for anything else,” Joshua was quoted as saying on TalkSport, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
“In my career, this is probably the most serious thing I’ve ever done. I’m not really there for coffee and talking shit, I’m there to work.”
So what was Anthony Joshua’s motivation when he faced Franklin? He emphatically called money. “Money. I love making money. It’s like a prize fighting sport. I’m broke. My family is broke. I know what this means and I’m doing it because I’m good at it and I work hard.”
“When everything is said and done, no one will care about me anymore. So, I have to make the most of it while I’m here,” concluded Anthony Joshua.
