FDA Rejects Elon Musk’s Plan to Embed Chips in Human Brains

TEXAS – Elon Musk’s plan through Neuralink to implant chips into the human brain was rejected by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Previously, since 2019, Musk has repeatedly mentioned that his brain chip startup will soon be tested on the human brain.

As reported by Reuters, Monday (6/3/2023), however, based on the confessions of its seven employees, Neuralink only asked the FDA for permission last year.

Following the permit request, the FDA then identified dozens of issues that Neuralink needed to fix before it could begin human testing. The number of problems found by the FDA related to safety.

In the report, the FDA said that brain chip wiring could travel to other areas of test subjects’ brains and the chip could overheat causing tissue damage.

In addition, there are also concerns about how the implant will be removed without damaging the brain.

In response to the reports circulating, a spokesperson for Neuralink did not respond to requests for comment prior to publication. Moreover, he added that the company has not indicated if its application has been rejected.

As is known, Musk founded Neuralink in 2016 as a computer brain interface company. The company plans to implant chips into human brains.
