FACT CHECK: Is it true that Hugo Samir is the savior for the U-20 Indonesian national team to reach the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup?
Suara.com – Information is circulating that says that Hugo Samir saved the U-20 Indonesian national team from reaching the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. Is that true?
This information was born from an upload on a YouTube channel called Dafa Bola, which claims that the player belonging to Persis Solo saved the U-20 Indonesian National Team for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup.
This claim can be seen from the fantastic title in the video he uploaded, which was last Tuesday (7/3/2023) evening or about 15 hours ago when this article was written.
“TENSION – INDONESIA QUALIFIED THE BIG 8 OF THE 2023 ASIA CUP | HUGO SAMIR THE SAVIOR OF INDONESIA,” reads the title of the video uploaded to the Dafa Bola YouTube channel.

Until this article was written, the video had been watched 28 thousand times within 15 hours of its broadcast.
Also in the video description, the YouTube channel provides fantastic information claiming that the U-20 Indonesian National Team has passed the top 8 or quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Cup.
“TENSION – INDONESIA QUALIFIED THE BIG 8 OF THE 2023 ASIA CUP | HUGO SAMIR THE SAVIOR OF INDONESIA,” wrote the statement in the video.
EXPLANATION
If you look at the broadcast time of the video, the YouTube channel uploaded the video just before the U-20 Indonesian National Team competed against Uzbekistan, namely on Tuesday (7/3/2023) at 21.00 WIB.

Then in the video, there is no statement stating that the U-20 Indonesian National Team qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup and Hugo Samir became the savior.
In fact, in the narration of the video it was only stated that Shin Tae-yong promised his team would perform optimally against Uzbekistan.
In addition, the narration in the video contains mostly the results of the South Korean tactician’s press conference before the match against Uzbekistan.
Almost no mention of Hugo Samir’s name throughout the 2 minute 14 second video, except in the opening of the video.

CONCLUSION
Based on the explanation above, the title used by the Dafa Bola YouTube channel is not in accordance with the facts that happened.
The reason is, Hugo Samir’s claim to be the savior for the U-20 Indonesian National Team to qualify for the top 8 or quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup did not happen at all.
In fact, the video was uploaded when the match between the U-20 Indonesia vs Uzbekistan national team had not been held at all.
What’s more, in that match the U-20 Indonesian National Team only drew 0-0 with Uzbekistan, thus failing to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup.
Hugo Samir did play as a starter in the match against Uzbekistan. However, he did not score a goal or managed to bring the U-20 Indonesian national team to victory.
In other words, the information circulated by the Dafa Bola YouTube channel falls into the category of disinformation and hoax because it doesn’t match the facts on the ground.
