TASHKENT – South Korea advanced to the last 16 of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. This certainty was obtained after in the final match of Group C, Kim Eun-jung’s troops held Tajikistan to a goalless draw at Milliy Stadium, Wednesday (8/3/2023).
In this match, South Korea fielded their second line-up player. The reason is, Kim Eun-jung’s team only needed a draw to qualify for the quarter-finals of the U-20 Asian Cup.
South Korea was also seen playing more ball possession. Noted, they are superior to 70 percent versus 30 percent than Tajikistan.
As a result, there is no chance of endangering the Tajikistan goal. Until the 55th minute, there was no ball that threatened goalkeeper Safarmad Ghaforov.
In contrast, Tajikistan managed to create five opportunities, two of which had trouble goalkeeper Kim Joon Hong. But no ball managed to thrill the South Korean goal.
Time for the match went on, but until the long whistle sounded the score was a goalless draw. This additional one point was enough for South Korea to lock in top spot in Group C of the U-20 Asian Cup. Meanwhile, Jordan trails in second place with a value of four points after a goalless draw against Oman U-20.
