FERGANA – The U-20 Indonesian national team will have its final match in Group A for the 2023 AFC U-20 Cup. against Uzbekistan at the Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana, Tuesday (7/3/2023) at 21.00 WIB. This match can be watched live via RCTI Plus.
The Indonesia vs Uzbekistan clash is predicted to be fierce, because the two teams still have a chance to qualify for the top 8 or quarter-finals of the 2023 AFC U-20 Cup. In the previous two matches, Indonesia gave up 0-2 to Iraq and won 1-0 over Syria.
The Garuda Nusantara team scored three points and placed third in the group. Indonesia’s position is below Iraq which has the same 3 points with Indonesia. Iraq won head-to-head over Indonesia. Meanwhile, Uzbekitan topped the standings with 6 points after defeating Iraq, Saturday (5/3/2023). Syria, which swallowed two defeats in a distended position.
Group A’s final match is predicted to be exciting because three teams have the chance to qualify for the quarter-finals. Indonesia faces Uzbekistan and Iraq faces Syria. If Indonesia wins over Uzbekistan and Iraq beats Syria, the three teams will reap the same points: 6.

The Indonesian coach, Shin Tae-yong, called Uzbekistan a tough opponent. Uzbekistan has good capital after bagging two wins and appearing in front of their fans in Fergana. Uzbekistan twice appeared in Fergana, while Indonesia in Tashkent.
“There is no problem with the condition of the players even though they are a little tired because of the trip from Tashkent to Fergana. However, we have adapted well,” said Shin Tae-yong as quoted by the official PSSI website.
Shin Tae-yong revealed that he had studied Uzbekistan’s game and already knew the strengths and weaknesses of the hosts. “The mentality of our players is getting stronger. We are optimistic that we can play our best because the players are in good condition.”
Shin Tae-yong has a good record against Uzbekistan. The former coach of the South Korean national team has played Uzbekistan twice. The first meeting brought South Korea U-23 to a 2-1 win at the 2016 U-23 Asian Cup. Meanwhile, in the second meeting, South Korea held Uzbekistan to a 0-0 score in the 2018 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone.
