JAKARTA – The Head of Development and Achievement Division (Kabid Binpres) PBSI, Rionny Mainaky is sure that badminton can contribute three gold at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia. That’s from the men’s team, men’s singles, and men’s doubles.
The target refers to the results of the Vietnam SEA Games. At that time Indonesia was able to collect two gold, two silver and five bronze.
The Red and White team won gold in the men’s doubles (Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin) and women’s doubles (Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti).
Now, PBSI is targeting one additional gold to three through the men’s team, men’s singles and men’s doubles.
However, Rionny hopes that Indonesia can collect as much gold as possible from the seven gold prepared.
“There are men’s teams, there are men’s singles, there are also men’s doubles. Those three are the most (golden targets),” said Rionny.
“Men’s team, men’s singles and men’s doubles. As many as possible,” he continued to the media crew, at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, Wednesday (7/3/2023).
Rionny explained that the badminton players who will participate in the 2023 SEA Games have been selected. However, it cannot be announced yet.
This time, Indonesia will field several backup players because the multi-event event will almost coincide with the 2023 Sudirman Cup.
