SEMARANG – Madura United coach Rachmad Basuki criticized the handling of the match medical team which he considered slow in providing assistance to Ricki Ariansyah when he fell and fainted on the field after a PSIS Semarang player’s leg hit his head while trying to wipe the ball clean.
The incident occurred at the end of the game. At that time, Ricki, who received a gastric pass from his team-mate, managed to head the ball into the PSIS goal and at the same time led Madura United to win 2-0 in the 2022-2023 League 1 continued match.
But an unexpected event occurred when the foot of one of the PSIS players hit Ricki’s face. Instantly he collapsed on the field and was unconscious.
Seeing this situation, the players of both teams reacted to provide the first save. Madura United medical officers immediately rushed into the field assisted by a medical team from PSIS Semarang.
After the match, Rachmad gave very high respect to the players and PSIS Semarang team officials. Because, the team nicknamed Laska Mahesa Jenar really immediately reacted quickly after seeing the condition of their foster children who had fallen unconscious on the field.
“We agreed that we could not comment on the course of the match. We would rather comment on what happened to our players. Representing Madura United, I give high appreciation and respect to the PSIS players who immediately reacted after the incident. We saw from the bench a lot of PSIS players. who immediately reacted when our players experienced the incident,” said Rachmad in a press conference after the match against PSIS Semarang, Tuesday (7/3/2023).
On the other hand, Rachmad threw sharp criticism at the match medical team. But he was very grateful because Ricky’s condition was not serious so he could be rushed to the hospital for further assistance. This did not escape the fast action of the PSIS Semarang medical team.
“I also have to criticize the medical team, which was slow in responding to it. It even seemed that some of the equipment was incomplete,” he said.
“And fortunately there was fast action from our medical team and if I’m not mistaken there was also help from the PSIS medical team which in the end the incident did not get any worse,” said Rachmad.
