FERGANA – The Indonesian U-20 national team (Timnas) will face a difficult match against Uzbekistan in the final match of Group A qualification for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. Garuda Nusantara – nicknamed the U-20 Indonesian National Team – is ready to fight for three points at the Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana, Tuesday (7/3/2023) evening WIB.

Victory will open up the opportunity for Garuda Nusantara to qualify for the quarter-finals of the U-20 Asian Cup, even though it has to be counted against the other two teams. Iraq will face Syria at the same time. If Iraq wins, then there will be 3 teams that have 6 points.

If that scenario occurs, according to the regulations will apply in determining the ranking, namely the tally of points in head-to-head matches between teams that have the same points.

Currently Indonesia is in 3rd place with 3 points, the same as Iraq in 2nd place. Uzbekitan topped with 6 points after defeating Iraq, Saturday (5/3/2023) while Syria is in the bottom position after being defeated by Indonesia.

Indonesia is under Iraq because they lost head-to-head. Indonesia surrendered 0-2 to Iraq in the opening game. If the head-to-head is equal among the 3 teams then the total goal difference is calculated between them.

Facing Uzbekistan is a challenge in itself for the U-20 Indonesian National Team. Of course it won’t be easy to beat Uzbekistan who are determined to wipe out all matches with a win and don’t want to lose in front of their own fans. Both teams will certainly bring out all their best abilities in the match later.

The U-20 Indonesian national team once faced Uzbekistan in the 2014 U-19 Asian Cup. At that time, Garuda Nusantara had to admit the greatness of its opponent with a score of 1-3 at the Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon, Myanmar on 10 October 2014.

The only Garuda Nusantara goal was scored by Paulo Sitanggang in the 58th minute. Meanwhile, Dostonbek Khamdamov (18′), Zabikhillo Urinboev (22′) and Otabek Shukurov (87′) managed to break into Rully Desrian’s goal.
