In Mexico for a gastric balloon, two of the kidnapped Americans are found dead
Two of the four Americans kidnapped by gunmen in a Mexican border town have been found dead. The other two were found alive. The news was announced by the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya in a phone call with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The governor said that ambulances and security personnel are attending to the survivors. According to reports, the four American citizens traveled to Mexico to go to a medical clinic in Matamoros. One of them is in serious health condition. The news comes days after the group was taken hostage at gunpoint in Matamoros.
The four Americans were a close group of friends traveling from South Carolina to Mexico so one of them, a mother of six, could undergo a medical procedure across the border.
After crossing the border, they were shot and kidnapped by unidentified gunmen, according to the FBI.
