MULHEIM – Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja won the first match of the 2023 German Open. The Indonesian mixed doubles beat the Malaysian representative, Tan Kiang Meng/Lai Pei Jing 21-14, 21-14.
The match was held at Westenegie Sporthalle, Mulheim, Tuesday (7/3/2023) evening. With this result, Dejan/Gloria advanced to the round of 16.
Dejan/Gloria tried to show their dominance when the match started. With a fast game tempo, they put pressure on Tan/Lai and won 4-1.
Opponents keep trying to develop the game to get out of pressure. Even so, Dejan/Gloria were still able to maintain their advantage until the first game interval, 11-7.
After the interval, Dejan/Gloria continued to show excellent attack patterns to secure the first game with a score of 21-14.
In the second game, Dejan/Gloria tried to continue their dominance. However, Tan/Lai also did not remain silent and put up quite a fierce resistance.
Dejan/Gloria remained calm and unhurried. That strategy put them back up 11-6 in the second game interval.
Dejan/Gloria’s attacks are getting more mature and making it very difficult for Tan/Lai to catch up. As a result, the Red and White representatives won 21-14 in the second game.
