FERGANA – The Vietnam U-20 national team had to settle for being eliminated from the race for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup title after being defeated by Iran U-20 with a score of 3-1 at the Istiqlol Stadium, Tuesday (7/3/2023). This victory makes Iran out with the status of Group B champion.

The three goals for Iran U-20 were scored by Hazbavi (36′), Saharkhizan (75′), and Hosseinnezhad (90+4′). Meanwhile, Vietnam was only able to reduce the position in the 56th minute through the action of Khuat Văn Khang.

When referring to match statistics, Iran U-20 quite dominated in this match. They were able to release threats against Iran 10 times and three of them managed to thrill Vietnam’s goal. This result made Iran U-20 qualify for the quarter-finals with the status of Group B winner.

Meanwhile, the runner-up position in Group B is occupied by Australia U-20. In the final match against Qatar U-20, Australia won with a score of 9-1.

This big win was enough to lock in second place in Group B. Tragically, Australia displaced Vietnam, which both collected six points.
