The Sevilla goalkeeper became the hero of Morocco at the Education City Stadium, Tuesday (6/12/2022) evening. Bounou was outstanding which made Spain unable to score.
Bounou kept the net from conceding for 120 minutes. His brilliant performance continued until the penalty shootout.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper managed to save two La Furia Roja penalties, namely Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets.
Bounou was also actually able to read the direction of Pablo Sarabia’s kick as the first executor, whose ball hit the bar.
Bounou’s fine appearance with Morocco has been shown since Group F of the 2022 World Cup. Because he only conceded once in three matches.
This condition made Morocco unbeaten in the group phase. The African representative qualified for the last 16 with the status of group winner.
Bounou is a senior goalkeeper in the Atlas Lions squad -nicknamed Morocco-. Because he has been defending his country since 2013.

In a duration of nine years, Bounou recorded 48 appearances in various events. That could add up as Morocco qualify for the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals.
