On Tuesday (22/11/2022) evening local time, Manchester United announced that the club had officially terminated Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent. This decision was taken a week after CR7’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

MU is grateful to Ronaldo for his contribution during his two spells with the club. “The club thanks him for his outstanding contribution during his two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family all the best for the future,” the club said in a statement.
Shortly after MU issued an official statement. Ronaldo also reacted. Quoted from the Twitter social media account Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo released a statement: “After talks with Manchester United, we agreed to terminate our contract,” said Ronaldo.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never change. I feel like this is the right time to look for a new challenge. I wish Man Utd all the best,” added Ronaldo.
