TANTRUM – Coolio, the rapper known for his hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” has died. Coolio’s departure occurred unexpectedly while at his friend’s house, on Wednesday night, September 28, 2022. Coolio died at the age of 59 years.
“Coolio is a legend who has inspired generations of artists to share their vision with the world. We are so grateful that Coolio shared his talent with us, and at the same time, we are deeply saddened to be the final part of his incredible musical journey,” wrote Casual, the label that owns released Coolio’s last single taken from Medcom, Thursday, September 29, 2022.
Coolio’s name skyrocketed in the 1990s. The hit “Gangsta’s Paradise” became part of the hip-hop “epidemic” of the 1990s.
The song was released on an album also called Gangsta’s Paradise, in 1995. The single also entered Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time list, peaking at number 85.

Condolences also came from various hip-hop stars. One of them was Ice Cube, who had known Coolio for a long time.
“This is sad news. I bear witness to how he is at the top of the industry. Rest in peace Coolio,” wrote Ice Cube on Twitter.
