In Group C, Indonesia will compete against Iran, which is the defending champion and has been the best 12 times in the biennial event. In addition, Lebanon is also a tough opponent because they have reached the quarter-finals of the Asian Futsal Cup eight times. The only opponent for Indonesia is Chinese Taipei.
Indonesia has only appeared again in the Asian Futsal Cup in this year’s edition after missing the previous two editions in 2016 and 2018. However, for nine times participating, not once have the Garuda Troops been able to qualify for the knockout phase.

Therefore, Hasemzadeh did not want to miss the opportunity to qualify from the group stage in this year’s edition. The Iranian coach also emphasized that his team will fight as much as possible to realize this dream even though the opponent they face is a strong team.
“This is an important tournament for us and playing after eight years of absence (in the Asian Futsal Cup) is a good achievement for Indonesia,” said Hasemzadeh as quoted from the official website of the Asian Football Federation (AFC), Tuesday (27/8/2022).
“We will try our best so as not to lose the opportunity to qualify for the next round. We are in a difficult group with Iran and Lebanon, however, we will go into our first game with the same mentality as any other game.”
