TANTRUM – The series of the 212th Anniversary of the City of Bandung (HJKB) is filled with the Great Bandung program, namely exchanging waste into basic necessities. Great Bandung will be held on 9, 17, 23, and 24 September 2022 from 08.30 to 14.00 WIB.
Director of the Bandung City Main Waste Bank, Elis Solihat said, from the three initial points of the Bandung Great Sale event, more than 3 tons of waste had been absorbed by the Bandung City Environment and Cleanliness Service (DLHK).
The amount was obtained from the details of 900 kilograms of waste in the first event, then about 2.4 tons (second event), and about 700 tons (third event). From the three editions alone, around 3.9 tons of waste has been collected.
“In addition, today’s fourth event is because the data has not yet been entered. After the activity, we will recap,” said Elis.

Garbage that has been collected also has a high price. Elis said, there were residents who got a voucher of Rp. 1 million from this activity.
“It’s usually the collective waste that is exchanged here,” he said.
He hopes that this activity will not stop as a series of the 212th Anniversary of the City of Bandung.
“This activity is good for educating the public to become customers at the Bandung City Waste Bank Main,” he said.
In each of these activities, the Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) provides a waste bank booth at Dewi Sartika Park.

On the last day of Bandung Great, Saturday 24 September 2022, dozens of people stormed the booth area. They seem enthusiastic about shopping at relatively low prices. Starting from IDR 2,000, IDR 5,000, up to IDR 10,000.
Moreover, there are discounts given in the form of vouchers from Yogya Group worth Rp. 500, Rp. 1,000, Rp. 5,000 and Rp. 10,000.
Lilis, a resident of Jalan Cinta Asih, Bandung City, for example. He admitted that the Bandung Great Sale event was very helpful for those who were looking for basic necessities at low prices.
“Garbage is useful. This activity is very helpful for me. Especially for people who are struggling,” he said.
He hopes that the Bandung Great Sale or similar activities that can convert waste into shopping goods can be held again.

“There is quite a discount for shopping,” he said.
The goods available at the Bandung Great Sale also vary. From clothes to groceries, everything is here. The prices also vary. Starting from all Rp. 2,000, all Rp. 5,000, to all Rp. 10,000.
To get vouchers, people only need to bring garbage. The value of the waste is then converted into rupiah, then exchanged for shopping vouchers. The minimum limit for waste that is carried is half a kilogram.
