A package exploded on the campus of Northeastern University in downtown Boston late Tuesday night (9/13). The college said one staff member had minor injuries to his hand.
Boston police said they were investigating a package that appeared to explode when opened near Holmes Hall, which houses the campus’ creative writing program.
The university asked students who had gathered for journalism lectures at night there to leave the building.
Michael Cox, Boston Police Commissioner, said, “We will work and continue to work with all of our campus security forces, our partners as well, to ensure that all students here are safe, as well as the citizens of this city. We recommend anyone out there who might know or see something to let us know and call 911 so we can confirm and follow up on things.”
Authorities said another suspicious package was found near a prominent art museum and that the FBI was assisting with the investigation into the incident. [uh/ab]
