Madrid arguably made a comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday (11/9/2022) night. The hosts had left behind 0-1 before finally raging and won 4-1.
Vedat Muriqi put Mallorca ahead in the 35th minute. However, Madrid got up and responded with goals from Federico Valverde (45+3), Vinicius Junior (72′), Rodrygo (89′), and Antonio Rudiger (90+3).
The result became a perfect record for Madrid by gaining 15 points from five matches. Carlo Ancelotti’s team remains firmly at the top of the standings.
Surprisingly, Asensio didn’t look happy and instead got angry. While the match was still in progress, the Spaniard threw his towel on the ground while kicking a water bottle.
Understandably, he was not sent in this home game at all. Moreover, Asensio has only appeared for a total of 17 minutes in all competitions this season.
Asensio’s frustration at playing less was heightened when he was ignored by Ancelotti in the 71st minute. Because, the Italian coach prefers Dani Carvajal to replace the injured Lucas Vazquez.
When asked about the incident, Ancelotti clarified and empathized with him. According to him, the 26-year-old player is already desperate to play.
“We are preparing to change the score to 2-1. Lucas is injured, and we only have one option. To include Mariano and Asensio, I don’t think about making that change,” Ancelotti explained, quoted by the Sportsmax page.
Ancelotti understands that Ansensio is angry and will not blame him. “If he’s angry, I agree with him. That’s normal, it means you want to play, feel important,” he said.

“In this period, he was the most affected player in the squad and I took that into account. I completely agree with his opinion. It’s natural to be angry and nothing has happened,” added Ancelotti.
