Competing at Maruzen Intec Arena, Osaka, Thursday (1/9/2022), Fajar/Rian immediately dominated the match. The duo, nicknamed FaJri, managed to score four consecutive points, leading to a 6-1 lead over Jomkoh/Kedren.

Fajar/Rian finally managed to win over Thailand’s representatives in the first interval with a score of 11-5. The dominance of the world number six pair continued after the interval. Jomkoh/Kedren were really not moved by him.
The Indonesian mainstay pair continued to widen their lead to 15-7. Not wanting to waste momentum, Fajar/Rian also won convincingly over Jomkoh/Kedren in the first game with a final score of 21-9.
In the second game, the match was quite fierce. This time, the attack launched by Jomkoh/Kedren was able to make Fajar/Rian difficult. Evidently, they managed to lead 8-5 over the world’s sixth-ranked pair.
However, Fajar/Rian were able to show their quality. Slowly FaJri rose and managed to change the situation by winning 11-10 over the Thai pair in the second interval. After the interval, the fierce battle took place again.
But FaJri can still widen his lead to 16-14. But surprisingly Jomkoh / Kedren managed to steal four consecutive points so that they were 18-16 ahead. As a result, Fajar/Rian had to lose in the second game to the Thai pair with a score of 17-21.
In the third game, Fajar/Rian went berserk. They really did not forgive the Thai couple this time. The reason, they managed to excel very strongly in the third interval with a score of 11-3.
After the interval, the world number six pair continued to maintain their dominance. They managed to score point by point, making the advantage 15-8. Not wanting to waste time, Fajar/Rian finally closed the third game with a 21-12 victory over Jomkoh/Kedren.
With this result, Fajar/Rian became the only Indonesian representatives in the men’s doubles sector to successfully penetrate the quarter-finals of the Japan Open 2022. In that round, they will face representatives of China, Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang. Liang/Wang broke through to the round after defeating Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, in two straight games 21-18 and 21-16.
