Zelensky said what frightened Putin was only the threat from the Russian people. For that reason, the only way to influence the Kremlin leader is to ban all Russians from entering the European Union and thereby cause national outrage in the country.
“This man has no other fear than the fear for his life,” Zelensky told Washington Postwhich was launched Thursday (18/8/2022).
“His life depends on whether he is threatened by his internal population or not. Nothing else threatens him.”

Russian troops fought hard after suffering heavy losses, including the sinking of their flagship warship; The Moskva, which Ukraine says was hit by an anti-ship missile by Kiev forces on April 14.
Russian forces have also lost many fighter jets and are no longer in control of the strategically important Snake Island.
Zelensky said sanctions currently imposed by the West are weak and ineffective as long as there is no full embargo on energy supplies and the border with Russia is not closed.
He claims that Putin can only be defeated if the Russian people put great pressure on him after seeing significant changes in their lives as a result of isolation from the rest of the world.
“I said from the start that I believe that the most important sanctions are closing the borders because they are taking other people’s territory,” he said.
“Yeah, let them live in their own world until they change their philosophies. So countries close borders and embargo on energy resources.”
