Datuk Rashid Sidek revealed five candidates for champion in the men’s singles sector in Badminton World Championship 2022. Viktor Axelsen still occupies the first position to win the prestigious medal.
According to him, Axelsen is still the strongest candidate because of his very consistent performance. “For me, Axelsen is the main choice because I see he is the most consistent in various championships this year. So, his chances are higher than others but preparation is still the key in this World Championship,” said Rashid, quoted by Bharian, Wednesday (17/8/2022).

Besides Axelsen, Datuk Rashid Sidek also mentioned Lee Zii Jia’s name. According to him, this event is a time for Zii Jia to show his quality.
Moreover, added Datuk Rashid Sidek, the 24-year-old player has made thorough preparations. “For Lee Zii Jia, this is the best time for him to prove his true ability after getting a lot of criticism. I believe that the criticism made is also the best motivation for him to silence the critics,” he added.
“However, he has said he wants to focus on the World Championships and what is certain is that his preparation is also of higher quality.”
