Riri Khasmita and Edrianto, former household assistants to Nirina Zubir’s mother, were finally sentenced to 15 years in prison. Both were found guilty of criminal cases of counterfeiting letters and money laundering.
The West Newsdelivers.com District Court held a verdict hearing on the land mafia case today, Tuesday (16/8). The defendants underwent a virtual trial because they were at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center.
Nirina Zubir was not present at the trial this time. However, her husband, Ernest Brown and his brother, Fadhlan Karim, were seen in the courtroom.
Ernest and Fadhlan looked anxiously awaiting the judge’s decision regarding the verdict to be handed down to Riri Khasmita and Edrianto. Ainor Rafiek as the presiding judge finally read out the verdicts for the two defendants.
“The trial, stated that the defendant Riri Khasmita and the defendant Edrianto, have been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of falsifying letters as if they were genuine and causing harm,” said Syafrudin Ainor Rafiek when reading the verdict in the courtroom at the West Newsdelivers.com District Court, Tuesday (16/8).
“The defendant Riri Khasmita and the defendant Edrianto were sentenced to imprisonment for 13 years each and a fine of Rp. 1 billion each,” he added.
Riri Khasmita and Edrianto were charged with Article 264 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, and Article 3 of the Shrimp Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 2010 concerning the crime of money laundering in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
Previously, Riri Khasmita and Edrianto were sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion each, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
