Suara.com – The World Stamp Championship & Exhibition (WCSE) Indonesia 2022 exhibition has been held successfully. The event which took place from August 4-9 carries the theme “Enjoy Philately, Make Recovery Together, Better and Stronger”. The event also supports the implementation of the G-20 leaders’ grand event which will take place in November 2022.
There are 61 countries and 506 collections of participants competing at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta. It was recorded that there were 2084 stamp collection frames to compete for medals in 13 competition classes. On this occasion, no less than 506 collections came from Indonesian philatelists, including 92 titles of books and 56 collections of teenagers. This exhibition was supported by the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the DKI Jakarta Government, Peruri, and Pos Indonesia as well as the Fadli Zon Library.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Thursday (4/8/2022), the Governor of DKI, Anies Baswedan invited Jakarta residents to witness and learn up close the historical journey of stamps and items related to the post.
Every day the exhibition is visited by thousands of students and the general public. Also attending were hundreds of booths from government and community representatives such as Pos Indonesia, Peruri, Kemenparekraf, Fadli Zon Library, Reading Corner, Keris booth, antique booths from old school communities, archipelago cuisine, and disability communities.

As a means of education, the committee also held various supporting events including philatelic workshops and webinars, screening of philatelic films, stamp auctions, collection consultations with experts, and various competitions, namely drawing competitions for Prisma Stamps for elementary students, poetry reading competitions for stamps for junior high school level, and Vlogging Competition for high school level exhibitions throughout DKI Jakarta. The activity was to compete for medals and trophies from the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria.
The announcement of the competition was announced on Sunday, (7/8/2022) in the Palmares Night event at the DPR RI Library. The event was opened directly by the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rachmat Gobel. There are 13 competition categories namely: World Stamp Championship, Traditional Philately, Postal History, Postal Stationery, Aero Philately, Thematic Philately, Revenue , Modern Philately, Open Philately, Picture Postcard , One Frame Exhibit , Philatelic Literature, and Youth Philately.
Of the total collections assessed, 392 collections of 2104 frames plus 85 Literature classes managed to get 25 Large Gold medals and 83 Gold medals. Meanwhile, Indonesia sent 62 collections from 9 competition classes to get 10 Gold medals, 3 Gold medals including the Collection of the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Philatelist Association, Dr. Fadli Zon. This exciting achievement is the best gift from Indonesian philatelists for the Indonesian people who are celebrating 77 years of Independence.
3 Gold Collection Dr. Fadli Zon attended the Postal History class with the title The Netherlands Indies Postal Cancellation 1789-1914, the Postal Stationery class with the title Postal Card of Netherlands Indies 1874-1932 and finally in the Picture Postcard class with the collection title The Netherlands Indies Picture Postcards. In addition, Tono Dwi Putranto in the category The Development of KLM and KNILM Operation in the Netherlands Indies 1920 – 1942, Yan Wiriadi Jodana gold in the Traditional class, Avie Wijaya 2 gold medals in the Traditional Class, Teguh Wira Adikusuma gold medal in the Thematic Class, Martin Saputra got a gold medal in the Postal Stationery Class, Shafa Sabila Fadli got a gold medal in the Postal Stationery Class.
Fadli Zon hopes that with this exhibition, the world of philately will get a wider place in Indonesian society. Moreover, the Indonesia 2022 exhibition provides the widest possible opportunity for a new generation of Indonesians to get to know more about stamps and philately. “We hope that in the future they will be the successors of the Indonesian philatelic world, which this year marks its 100th anniversary (1922-2022). Because we believe that stamps and philately have a number of positive values in building a positive personality of a nation,” he said.
Indonesia’s Largest Trade Show Hybrid Holds Again
The 2022 World-Indonesian Philatelic Exhibition was officially closed by Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria, Tuesday (9/8/2022). In particular, he appreciated the hard work of these Indonesian philatelists. On the other hand, he stated that what PFI has done is proof that the city of Jakarta is indeed ready to become a global city. He also hopes that on other occasions, various international events can continue to be held in the city of Jakarta.
