The wait for PSIS Semarang ended in the third match against Barito Putera. Playing at home at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, Saturday (6/8/2022) afternoon, they could win 2-1.
PSIS, which is still not strengthened without its flagship striker, Carlos Fortes, was surprised by Barito Putera’s goal in the 16th minute through Rafael Silva. It makes the home players appear more aggressive to change the situation.
PSIS finally equalized through Jonathan Cantillana’s penalty in the 28th minute. Three minutes later, Sergio Alexandre’s fleet finally won 2-1 through goals from winger, Wawan Febrianto.
PSIS could have added a goal in the second half, but Taisei Marukawa failed to maximize the penalty kick against Barito Putera who was escorted by former PSIS goalkeeper, Joko Ribowo.
Sergio’s first victory was greeted with joy by PSIS. Moreover, his team can immediately enter the top 10 with four points.
“Thanks to God for today’s results. The match was tough and it was a tough match,” said Sergio, on the LIB’s official website.
“What is certain is that this victory is for the fans who have always been loyal to support PSIS,” continued the Brazilian coach.
Despite winning, Sergio still has an important record for his team. “Indeed, what is still on record is the problem of focus so that we can concede again,” he explained.
