Brighton & Hove Albion made a surprise by beating Manchester United 2-1 in the first week of the 2022/2023 Premier League. Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter said his team deserved to win.

Playing at Old Trafford, England, Sunday (7/8/2022), Manchester United tried to dominate the match from the start. Even so, The Seagulls -Brighton & Hove Albion’s nickname – actually managed to score two goals within nine minutes.
Pascal Gross gave Brighton & Hove Albion the upper hand with his goals in the 30′ and 39′ minutes. In the second half, Manchester United managed to reply through an own goal Alex Mac Allister (68′).

Potter, 47 years old, confirms The Seagulls deserved to win over Manchester United in that match. “It was a great performance and a deserved win. Great way to start (the season),” Potter said.
The key to Brighton’s victory, Potter said, was playing bravely and pressing effectively to lock up the Manchester United defence.
“I think we have an idea of how to attack and when we can we try to press and put them under pressure,” said Potter. “We were positive, brave and the players gave everything. Our performance in the first half was very strong.”
This result puts Brighton in 6th place with three points. Meanwhile, Man United is in 13th place. Man City, who beat West Ham United 2-0 at the London Stadium, is in 4th place with three points.
Man City’s two goals were packed by new striker Erling Haaland in the 36th minute from the ducks and 65′ thanks to the assist of Kevn De Bruyne.
