Beijing state media, Xinhuacalled this massive maneuver a joint blockade or siege operation in Taiwan’s six water zones.
The Chinese government also announced the imposition of sanctions on US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her visit to Taiwan last Tuesday.
According to reports Xinhuawarplanes, bombers, destroyers and frigates were all used in the “joint blockade operation” that took place in six zones off the coast of Taiwan.

Taiwan has been self-governing since 1949 or since China’s civil war ended. However, Beijing still considers it part of China.
The military’s Eastern Theater Command also fired new versions of missiles that reportedly hit unidentified targets in the Taiwan Strait with precision. A Chinese military officer said it included projectiles fired toward Taiwan and into the Pacific.
Massive military exercise, pictured Xinhua held on an unprecedented scale, was China’s response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan last Tuesday.
Polosi is the highest-ranking US politician to visit Taiwan in the last 25 years.
China announced unspecified sanctions against Pelosi and her family. Such sanctions are generally largely symbolic.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry statement said Pelosi had ignored China’s serious concerns and Beijing firmly opposed her visit.
