The Citilink Indonesia aircraft for the Surabaya – Makassar route had to make an emergency landing and return to Juanda Airport, Surabaya, on Thursday (21/7).
The emergency landing was carried out because the pilot, Captain Boy Awalia, who was carrying the plane with flight number QG 307, had a health emergency.
“Flight QG307 from Surabaya to Ujung Pandang departed as scheduled at 06.00 WIB. After approximately 15 minutes in the air, the flight landed again in Surabaya because our pilot had a health emergency. The plane landed again at 07.00 WIB at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. well and safe.” said President Director of PT Citilink Indonesia Dewa Kadek Rai in his official statement.
Arriving back at Juanda Airport, Captain Boy Awalia immediately received medical treatment at the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, his life was not saved and the pilot was declared dead.
“Based on the results of the doctor’s examination from the local hospital, it was conveyed that our pilot was declared dead,” he explained.
Captain Boy Awalia’s body was then taken to Newsdelivers.com on the same day to be buried by his family.
“The deceased will be flown directly today from Surabaya to Newsdelivers.com and the body will be buried in Newsdelivers.com in accordance with the handling procedures in force,“he said.
Meanwhile, flight QC 307 was resumed hours later after the emergency landing. All passengers were flown back with a change of aircraft and the entire crew.
