The Head of Menteng Metro Police, Kompol Netty Rosdiana Siagian said that he would disband the youths hanging out and gathering after 10 pm.
This is because Jakarta is implementing PPKM Level 1 again.
Not only that, the number of ‘Citayam’ teenagers gathered on Jalan Sudirman, he was worried that there would be disturbances in public order and security.
“We anticipate disturbances in the security and social order. People are getting late at night, people think more negatively. Let’s be clear,” said Netty to Suara.com, Friday (8/7/2022).
However, Netty said, “Citayam” teenagers were still allowed to hang out in the Jalan Sudirman area, with a note that it was under 10 pm.
“Yes, please (go ahead), (but) at 10 pm it must be disbanded. (Basically) return to PPKM Level 1,” he said.
When contacted by Suara.com, Netty questioned why Citayam teenagers had to gather in the Jalan Sudirman area.
“Why not go to Parung there or to Bogor?” he said.
Netty also mentioned Citayam’s teenage dress style.
“What are their clothes like? Make Tiktok like that,” he said.
Many parties do not agree with Netty’s words.
Rivanlee Anandar as Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), criticized Netty’s remarks about the Citayam teenager. Rivanlee thought Netty’s words were too classy.
Not only Rivanlee, Haris Azhar also considered the attitude of the police to disband them, if it was past 10 pm, on the grounds that the implementation of PPKM Level 1 was unfounded.
According to him, the police are overreacting to something crowded in the community. The phenomenon of ‘Citayam’ teenagers gathering in the Jalan Sudirman area is their right to enjoy open space.
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan also gave his opinion about the Citayam teenager. According to him, all residents can enjoy the facilities of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. It doesn’t have to be middle to upper class. All groups can enjoy it.
However, Anies reminded people who use existing facilities, including Citayam teenagers, to maintain cleanliness, order and health protocols.
