Suara.com – Daniil Medvedev managed to advance to the third round of the French Open 2022 after defeating Serbian Laslo Djere with a score of 6-3 6-4 6-3 at Stade Roland Garros, France, Thursday (26/5/2022) local time.
The Russian, who reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros last year after four consecutive first-round eliminations, struggled to move on slow surfaces but her elasticity eventually made up for her lack of natural ability.
“To be honest I thought I played better in the first half,” said Medvedev ReutersFriday (27/5/2022).
“I definitely have to play better in the next round, because it will be more difficult. Again, I’m not going to lie, I prefer hard courts.”

“I couldn’t really get the ball into the air that fast. I just tried to hit it, then run, run, run.”
“So that’s where I think it could be better, because again, the better, the tougher the players, the less they miss and the more I have to run and the harder it is,” said Medvedev.
Medvedev had a break in the first set but his brilliant defense helped him bounce back for the second time on Court Philippe Chatrier.
He will next meet 28th seed Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia.
Medvedev, who won last year’s US Open and was runner-up at this season’s Australian Open, arrived at the French Open with just one match on clay after undergoing a procedure to treat a hernia in April.

Medvedev’s series of unforced errors early in the game gave Djere a break in the first game, but Medvedev stepped up to win five games in a row and take control of the match.
