Italy was beaten 0-1 by North Macedonia in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs in the European zone. That makes Mancini believed to be leaving his post.
Moreover, the 57-year-old tactician has been linked with a number of big European clubs. Reportedly, Mancini ogled Manchester United (MU) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
However, the former Inter Milan coach gave clarification. Mancini insists that he is not interested in managing the club again because he will stay with Gli Azzurri.
“Some time ago we woke up at one of the most dramatic points. frustrating disappointment. It’s very hard to accept, but also accepting defeat in life is part of a healthy path of human growth and sport,” said Mancini.
Mancini admits disappointment still surrounds his squad after failing to appear in Qatar. However, he stressed that Italy must quickly get up to look at a better future.
“Let’s take some time to reflect and understand clearly. The only right step now is to raise your head and work for the future.”
This fact is very painful for Italy. Because, after winning the 2020 European Cup, they had become favorites to win the 2022 World Cup.
