The dismissal of the Italian coach followed a series of poor results that were swallowed up by the Hornets. Noted, Ranieri only managed to record two wins and one draw from 14 matches with Watford in all competitions.
The series of bad results has made Watford now perched in the 2021/2022 Premier League relegation zone. The club, which is based in Vicarage Roads, now ranks 19th with a collection of just 14 points.
Therefore, Watford dismissed the coach early. In fact, the arrival of Ranieri who replaced Xisco Munoz’s previous role was believed to be able to bring the Hornets to look better.
“The Hornet recognizes Claudio as a man of great integrity and honor, who will always be honored here at Vicarage Road for his efforts to lead the team with dignity,” the statement continued.
“However the club feel that, with nearly half of the Premier League campaign remaining, the change in the position of the Head Coach will now give the new appointment ample time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status,” the statement added.
“No further club comments will be made until this new appointment is confirmed in due course,” concluded an official Watford statement.
