Hendry Saputra decided not to renew his contract at the Cipayung National Training Center this year on Tuesday (18/1/2022). He ended his service for the Indonesian men’s singles for the past seven years.
Hendry is known to be very familiar with his players, especially Jonatan Christie and Ginting. Since 2018, the 40-year-old coach has forged the two of them to be able to achieve what they are today.

Therefore, the decision certainly had an impact on Jojo and Ginting. However, Hendry admitted that the two players had known this news for a long time and had approved it.
“I think (they) are okay, at the Thomas Cup (October 2021) and in Bali we were already sounding, but to be honest I didn’t want to tell you when they competed in Bali. After that, I just let you know, so I didn’t tell you for a long time,” said Hendry when contacted by the MNC Portal Indonesia team, Wednesday (19/1/2022).
There are two reasons Henry no longer extends his service at Pelatnas. First, he feels that his achievements so far have brought the men’s singles to gain enough achievements.

The second is health problems. At his age and being exposed to Covid-19, he prefers to hand over the coaching baton to a younger and fresher coach. This has also been communicated to Jojo and Ginting.
