“The real question is, does everyone understand who the president-elect is? If it’s not a clear understanding, it can infect the ranks and archives or at any level in the US military,” said US Army Major General (ret) Paul Eaton as quoted from Sputnik, Sunday (2/2/2022).
“If you have that kind of confusion around the 2020 election, it’s not unusual to consider that you’re going to have a bit of confusion and that confusion could sneak into the ranks of the US military,” the retired officer added, with “confusion” referring to allegations made by the former president. Donald Trump that the 2020 vote was rigged using manipulated voting machines and fake ballots in a number of states.
Eaton points to the 124 retired US generals and admirals who signed a joint letter in May challenging the 2020 election results and questioning President Biden’s mental health.

In their letter, the retirees warned that America’s Constitutional Republic would be lost without fair and honest elections that accurately reflect the will of the people.
They also called on the FBI and the Supreme Court to act quickly when election irregularities arise, instead of ignoring them as they did in 2020.
Deeming an actual coup attempt a “low probability, high impact” possibility at this stage, Eaton warned that it was a possibility that needed to be prepared for, including through war games, education, and being alert to unconstitutional thinking among troops.
“The concern is to ensure that we have a very clear understanding of the ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States’ part of our oath and that everyone in the US military fully understands how the oath works and how to understand civilian leadership in the US military.” said the retired general.
