Greysia/Apriyani won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. They became the first women’s doubles to donate gold to Indonesia at the biggest sporting event in the world.
At the 2021 Sudirman Cup in Vantaa, Finland, Greysia/Apriyani played very well. They have always contributed points for Mother Earth in the two matches they have played.
The world number six pair managed to beat Canadian representatives, Rachel Chan / Catherine Choi. They won in straight sets with a score of 21-16 and 21-10.
After that, they again gave points to the Red-White Team against Denmark. They also won in straight sets with a score of 21-17 and 21-9 over Maiken Fruergaard/Sara Thygesen.
Besides Greysia/Apriyani, the duo Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Ribka Sugiarto also contributed points for Indonesia. They won in straight sets when they played against Russia, Evgeniya Kosetskaya/Ekaterina Malkova.
Therefore, ahead of the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals, Eng Hian praised the two women’s doubles pairs, especially Greysia/Apriyani. According to him, they can perform optimally because they do not think about their status as Olympic champions.
