Secretary General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno said his party would not speculate on the issue reshuffle which President Jokowi will do in the near future, after PAN itself joins the governing coalition. According to him, this is the prerogative of a president.
“So we will not speculate in this case, let alone try to guess because now PAN is really focused on helping the community in handling COVID-19. So of course we will respect whatever the president’s decision is, will we? reshuffle or not, but the point is that we will not enter the arena to speculate about it,” he told VOA, in Jakarta, Monday (27/9).
Furthermore, Eddy explained that when the president offered to PAN to occupy a position in the cabinet, his party was ready to carry out the task during that time for the benefit of the people, especially in the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, when asked if PAN itself had prepared the names of the cadres, Eddy did not elaborate.
“Pak Zul (Chairman of PAN) has stated that his goal is to serve the Red and White no one is unprepared, and that is in any case. We have felt that for 1.5 years the PAN cadres have been tireless and tireless to deal with the COVID-19 problem. Regarding whether there has been an offer to PAN so far, Eddy did not answer clearly. According to him, this is a discussion that will only be carried out between President Jokowi and the General Chair of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan.
Addressing this issue, the Spokesperson for the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadjroel Rahman, confirmed the decision reshuffle The cabinet is entirely in Jokowi’s hands.

Reshuffle Based on “Power Sharing”
Political analyst and Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting Pangi Syarwi Chaniago believes that PAN will occupy a ministerial seat in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. He sees that Jokowi himself understands well the management of the coalition to divide the allotted seats in the government to the political parties that support it.
“So how do you maintain the feelings of the supporting parties, let alone the main supporting parties. So what will be reduced is from the professional ministers. So the Minister of the party will not be reduced, the change of people may even be added. PAN will definitely get at least one seat, if I see it,” he told VOA.
With that, he saw that reshuffle what Jokowi does is reshuffle based on “power sharing” aka the division of seats in the cabinet, considering the current government coalition is a fat coalition. That’s because the foundation has collapsed from the beginning, it doesn’t work, only there is no concrete discourse. So, reshuffle even so many times will not actually have a significant impact because no matter how bad a minister from a political party is, it will be maintained. There are many ministers who do not have the capacity, who cannot work but are maintained. The victims and victims are always ministers from professional circles, who have no political ties,” he explained.
Regarding which ministers from professional circles will be removed by Jokowi if PAN enters the cabinet, it cannot be predicted.
