Two people died and 12 others were still missing as of Sunday afternoon after heavy rain triggered a landslide in Tianquan Couty, in southwest China’s Sichuan province, Saturday (25/9).
Heavy rains hit Longtou Valley in Tianquan from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. With maximum rainfall reaching 131 millimeters.
Seventeen disappeared after the disaster. Three were rescued, two died and 12 others are still missing.
The rain further destroyed 4.5 kilometers of roads, 36 base stations and 25 kilometers of power lines. The rain also triggered 16 landslides and drowned an electric substation.
The SAR team has made every effort to find those who are missing.
Roads to the disaster area have been reopened, but communication lines are still not restored. [em/jm]
