Appearing at the Sochi Circuit, Norris led the race for a long time. However, he lost his position after it rained a few laps before the race ended.

The reason, the 21-year-old racer did not change his tires and persisted with slick tires. He also had to give up his leading position was taken over by Hamilton, who changed his tires to intermediate, and finished seventh.
Despite the blunder, Norris still received appreciation from Hamilton. According to him, the young racer had an extraordinary race and would not have been overtaken if the circuit had not rained.

“Lando did a great job. He has incredible speed, he does a great job for McLaren,” Hamilton said.
“It will be difficult to get past Lando. He has good pace, he does the fastest lap so it will be difficult to get past him unless we are stuck in traffic or if he makes a mistake which he has never made at all.
“Then it rained and it was very profitable. I said my team did a really great job, thank you very much to them.”
With these results, Hamilton again took over the top of the 2021 F1 standings, which had been captured by Max Verstappen, with 246.5 points. Meanwhile, Norris still sits in fourth place with 139 points.
