Speaking at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly session in New York via video link, Khan called on the UN Secretary-General to hold a global dialogue against the “rise of Islamophobia” to save the world from other types of terrorism in the name of a rising phenomenon.
He went on to accuse India’s longtime rival of following the worst and most widespread form of Islamophobia by unleashing fear and violence against India’s 200 million Muslim community. Read also: Pakistan Reminds Taliban: School Bans on Non -Muslim Afghan Women
“Mass abuse by cow guards, frequent pogroms, like what happened in New Delhi last year,” Khan said, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Sunday (29/9/2021).
“The discriminatory citizenship law to rid India of Muslims and the campaign to destroy mosques across India, and obliterate its Muslim heritage and history, are all part of this criminal enterprise,” he said.
Calling a “free and fair” plebiscite in disputed Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with a UN Security Council resolution on the long-running dispute as the only way for “sustainable” peace in South Asia, Khan reiterated his country’s desire for peace with India.

“The onus remains with India to create an environment conducive to meaningful and results-oriented engagement with Pakistan,” he said.
“And for that, India must do first is to reverse the unilateral and illegal actions instituted since 5 August 2019, secondly stop its oppression and human rights violations against the Kashmiri people, and three, stop and reverse the demographic changes in the occupied territory,” he continued.
Warning of the potential threat of nuclear conflict in South Asia, Khan urged the international community to prevent “another conflict” between Pakistan and India.
“India’s military upgrades, development of advanced nuclear weapons, and destabilizing acquisition of conventional capabilities, could erode mutual deterrence between the two countries,” he said.
