Suara.com – The ornamental boat race along the Batanghari River enlivens the 16th Muaro Jambi Temple Festival which is included in the Kharisma Even Nusantara calendar of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2021.
“The Muaro Jambi Temple Festival is held for three days from September 23 to 25, on the second day a decorative boat race along the Batanghari River is held,” said Muaro Jambi Regent Masnah Busro when closing the Muaro Jambi Temple Festival at Muaro Jambi Temple, Saturday (25/9). /2021).
Masnah explained that the ornamental boat race along the river was planned to be held in an ancient canal inside the Muaro Jambi Temple area. However, this activity cannot be carried out because the ancient canal is still not able to be crossed by boats.
Masnah hopes that in the coming year, the ancient canal in the Muaro Jambi Temple area will be rebuilt, so that the tour of the ancient canal trail in the Muaro Jambi Temple area can be carried out.

“Currently, ten kilometers of ancient canals have been re-opened, there are still about seven kilometers remaining that must be opened. We hope to get help from the Ministry to open ancient canals in the Muaro Jambi Temple area,” said Masnah.
With the rehabilitation of the ancient canal, before entering the enshrinement area, tourists must first walk along the ancient canal, thereby increasing the attractiveness of tourists visiting Muaro Jambi Temple.
In addition to the riverbed decorative boat competition, the Muaro Jambi Temple Festival was enlivened with cultural art performances, exhibitions, bazaars, senggung fish regional cooking competition, rattan shoot curry and mangut gangan.
Jambi Governor Al Haris said that in the coming year all regencies and cities in Jambi Province will participate in the Muaro Jambi Temple festival by displaying their respective regional arts and culture.
“We want the Muaro Jambi Temple Festival to become an international-scale festival by presenting arts, regional culture and local wisdom of the Jambi people,” said Al Haris.
