In an effort to show his readiness to lead the G20 group of countries next year, President Joko Widodo on Wednesday (22/9) appeared at the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UN) to explain the priority programs of his government.
In the pre-recorded speech, Jokowi said inclusiveness and an environmentally friendly and sustainable economy would top the list of the main programs his government will run in 2022. The program is themed “Rise Together, Rise Stronger.”
“Politicization and discrimination against vaccine (procurement) continues at this time. We must solve this problem by taking concrete steps,” Jokowi said in his speech.
In his efforts to invite other countries to cooperate, Jokowi advised countries to mobilize resources for global health resilience, such as funding and vaccines, and establish standard global health protocols for travel.
Although climate change and the economy were an important part of his speech, Jokowi also highlighted issues of terrorism, conflict and war. (ka/ps/rs)
